  • 伺服器是什麼?
    簡單來說,伺服器就是一台電腦,但不是我們熟悉的個人電腦。伺服器是擁有特殊功能的企業級電腦產品,用戶可透過行動裝置或個人電腦與其連線,索取額外的資訊與服務。與伺服器連線後獲得的功能與服務類別,遠超過任何一台個人電腦或行動裝置所能夠提供。

  • 為何需要?
    人類發明伺服器,因為單一一台電腦不可能無所不能。使用者與伺服器連上線之後,須透過「請求-回應」(request-response)溝通模式向伺服器提出「請求」,這項請求可能是打開電子郵件、觀看影片、呼叫計程車,也有可能是比較複雜的任務,例如用電腦視覺辨識車牌號碼,然後向車主收費。伺服器會依照所收到的請求,彙整資料進行運算,再將「回應」回傳給用戶。這就是伺服器每一天每一秒為上千萬位使用者所進行的工作。
